Media University Internship
For undergraduate students at the University of Illinois
Undergrads at Illinois are eligible to apply for a for-credit internship to help with the Media University program. The internship is in the spring semester and the two weeks of Media University in the summer (June 16-28).
In the Spring Semester, all interns will: assist in grassroots marketing and communication to recruit high school students to the program; planning program activities; and logistics planning for the program. Much of the work during the spring semester will be on the interns’ own time, but there may be periodical meetings throughout the semester of the entire team.
During the summer, interns will work with the high school students enrolled in Media University, to assist them with their projects. Advertising interns will help the students produce a public service announcement and campaign executions for a client. Journalism interns will help the students produce a news broadcast segment and multi-media website. Media and Cinema Studies interns will help the students produce a video about how youth can create change in their communities using social/new media tools.
Requirements
Media and Cinema Studies interns must have taken at least one MACS course before the summer portion of Media University. Advertising interns must have taken ADV 199 or ADV 300 before the summer portion of Media University. Journalism interns must have taken JOUR 200 and preference will be given to those who have taken more advanced journalism courses.
