Courses & Credit
We recommend you take 12 Credit Hours while at DCU, which translates to 4 courses. You will pick classes before you go abroad that you would prefer to take. When you arrive some of these classes may not be available due to class size, etc. so you will solidify your final class choice while at DCU orientation a few days before classes start.
When you arrive back you will need to get the courses taken at DCU approved by the advisor of the department that coordinates with the topic of the class. You can also check the study abroad database for courses already approved from DCU.
Information for Exchange Student
The DCU website has information for exchange students.
You have the opportunity to either stay in the dorms at DCU or a nearby apartment complex called Shanowen Square.
The DCU dorms are called Hampstead Apartments and College Park Apartments. These apartments contain 4-5 bedroom accommodation plus a central living space and kitchen and are subject to one semester availability. While they have a great location since they are associated with the school they are a little stricter on guests. There is a large convenient store called Spar a 10-15 minute walk from the dorms as well as a smaller spar on the campus mall.
Shanowen Square is a gated apartment complex a 5 to 10 minute walk from DCU and is used as housing for many international students. They offer apartments with 3-5 bedrooms, where each bedroom has its own bathroom. They also include a central living space and kitchen area. Just outside the apartments is a small Spar where you can pick up some essentials. There is the Omni mall, a 10-15 minute walk away that has a grocery store called Tesco in it.
